The Egham Museum supports our local community in a number of ways. This website offers you a chance to explore the breadth of our work and find out more about how you can support us to continue.
The Egham Museum was founded in 1968 by a passionate and dedicated team of local people who felt that it was important to preserve the heritage of the town. Over 50 years later, the museum is governed by The Egham Museum Trust (established in 1979) and is now managed by a professional curator, supported by a team of 30 volunteers, all continuing with the same goal. As an independent museum and charity, we receive no regular funding and rely on grants, donations and partnerships to continue this important work. Find out more about how you can get involved here.
Our Vision
Connecting people and place with the past, present and future.
Our Mission
We preserve, interpret, and make accessible for all the history of Egham, Egham Hythe, Englefield Green, Thorpe, and Virginia Water.
This vision and mission is supported by our values, which underpin everything we do.
Our Values
Creative: we are experimental and innovative, welcoming new ideas and fostering new ways of exploring and sharing the past.
Collaborative: we are outward looking and receptive, putting partnership at the heart of what we do.
Inclusive: we are welcoming and supportive, a museum for everyone, where all voices have value.
